Judge Schedules Hearing In Freedom Foundation Lawsuit Challenging Seattle Income Tax

In an August 22 order, King County Superior Court Judge John R. Ruhl ruled that he will hear summary judgment arguments on November 17 in Burke, et al. v. City of Seattle, et al, the case brought by Freedom Foundation and Lane Powell PC on behalf of 17 Seattle residents to challenge the City Council's illegal income tax ordinance. This summary judgment should resolve the case at the trial court and move it to Washington's appellate courts for final resolution.

Friedrichs, Freedom Foundation File Brief Asking Court To Ban Forced Agency Fees

The Freedom Foundation has submitted an amicus brief in partnership with Rebecca Friedrichs in support of a federal lawsuit that, if taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court, has the potential to extend right-to-work protections to all public employees in the country by establishing they can no longer be fired for refusing to financially support a labor union.

Union-backed think-tank fined $30k for campaign finance violations

Yet another of the Freedom Foundation’s investigations has flushed out a labor-affiliated organization actively engaged in a scheme to hide the extent of its political activity.

On Monday, the Washington State Attorney General’s Office (AGO) announced that the Washington Budget and Policy Center would pay fines and penalties totaling $30,545 for violating state campaign finance laws.

SEIU Council 14 the latest subject of Freedom Foundation complaint, AG lawsuit

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Service Employees International Union Leadership Council 14 on Tuesday became the latest Washington state labor organization to face a lawsuit for campaign finance violations when the state Attorney General’s office (AGO) filed charges alleging Council 14 failed to register and report as a political committee to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission (PDC).
