A packed house crowded the City of Shelton Commission meeting on Monday to learn about two initiatives recently presented to the City of Shelton. The initiatives were from a group of citizens supported by the Freedom Foundation. The Foundation collected the required amount of signatures – 25% of the votes cast for all candidates for mayor in the last general election. The initiatives were the “Collective Bargaining Transparency Act” and “Collective Bargaining Protections act”.

Two initiatives centered on changing collective bargaining practices in the City of Sequim were unanimously declined by Sequim city councilors Monday. Craig Ritchie, Sequim city attorney, said in a “legal opinion” document that the propositions “attempt to usurp or infringe upon a power granted to the governing body of the City of Sequim.”
