Statement from Aaron Withe, CEO of the Freedom Foundation, on Princess Moss Taking Office as NEA President

Dallas, TX — Freedom Foundation CEO Aaron Withe today released the following statement on Princess Moss taking office as president of the National Education Association (NEA):

“Princess Moss takes the reins of the nation’s largest teachers union — nearly three million members and one of the most powerful political machines in American education. As NEA vice president, she collected $416,514 in compensation last year, more than five times what the average public school teacher makes. Union leadership tells members that dues are about fighting for their pay and working conditions. Leadership’s own paycheck tells a different story.

“Moss has been just as clear about where the rest of those dues go. NEA’s own website touts her as an outspoken advocate on racial and social justice causes, she’s backed union resolutions blaming ‘white supremacy culture’ for problems in schools, and she’s called school choice — a policy millions of parents want — ‘an intentional plan to destroy education.’ Teachers deserve to know where their dues actually go.”
