Dallas, TX — Freedom Foundation CEO Aaron Withe today released the following statement on the passage of the Protect America’s Workforce Act by the U.S. House of Representatives:
“The House handed union bosses a win and taxpayers a loss. The so-called Protect America’s Workforce Act does nothing to protect America’s workforce. It protects union leadership’s grip on power and access to millions of dollars in dues.”
“President Trump’s executive orders gave federal agencies with national security-related missions the flexibility they need to function effectively and serve the American people. This bill would reverse that progress and restore a broken system where unelected union bosses call the shots.”
“While the Senate is unlikely to act on this legislation, Congress would better serve the American people by ending federal support for government union bosses. Senator Tim Sheehy’s Paycheck Protection Act, which would prohibit the federal government from collecting union dues and Senator Joni Ernst’s Protecting Taxpayers’ Wallets Act, which would stop letting federal employees do union work on taxpayer time, would be a great place to start.
“President Trump is right. Government should work for the people, not special interests.”
