Dallas, TX—In response to the latest Nation’s Report Card, which shows reading and math scores at multi-decade lows, Freedom Foundation CEO Aaron Withe released the following statement condemning teachers’ unions for putting politics ahead of education and driving the systematic failure of public schools.

“During COVID, teachers unions fought to keep schools closed and prioritized a political agenda over our kids’ education. Five years later, nothing has changed. They believe that gender transitioning our students, antisemitism, critical race theory, and fighting Trump are more important than reading, writing, or math.

“The Nation’s Report Card shows the systematic failure of our public schools and the teachers’ unions are wholly responsible. That’s why the Freedom Foundation created the Teacher Freedom Alliance: to give teachers the professional resources they need to prepare the next generation to be free, moral, and upright citizens.”
