Aug 20 – Las Vegas Review Journal – Editorial: Lawsuit seeks an end to restrictions on leaving union membership

This isn’t just an issue in Nevada. In December, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard a similar case involving government workers in Washington seeking to drop their union membership. In that case, filed by the Freedom Foundation, workers had only 10 days each year to opt out of the union.

Aug 13 – The Center Square – Free-market think tank says Washington office targeted by shooting

The Freedom Foundation said they discovered what they described as a bullet hole in one of the building’s windows on Monday, August 3. The building was vacant at the time and no one was injured, according to a statement from the think tank.

Aug 6 – National Legal and Policy Center – AFSCME Local in California Forgers Signature, Wins Court Dismissal

On June 15, a U.S. District Court for the Central District of California rebuked an Orange County home care provider in her quest to recoup dues collected by the union via the State of California over six years despite clear evidence that someone at the union had forged her signature to establish membership. A week later, she filed an appeal. The larger issue, in light of the Supreme Court’s 2018 ruling in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31, is the corrupt practice of government agencies allying themselves with the very unions with whom they bargain.

Freedom Foundation, a conservative advocacy organization, filed a lawsuit on behalf of three Oregonians who said state officials exceeded their rule-making authority and violated free speech rights by requiring masks in public. The case cites people who have medical or psychological difficulties with wearing masks.
