He stopped a terrorist attack on a French train in 2015, receiving the French Legion of Honor and the American Soldier’s Medal. He then portrayed himself in Clint Eastwood’s “The 15:17 to Paris” about the thwarted terror plot.

His celebrity status earned him a spot on “Dancing with the Stars”, but it didn’t help him oust a long-time Oregon congressman in the 2020 elections.

Now, Alek Skarlatos is making the Freedom Foundation his next adventure.

“The Freedom Foundation is honored to have an international hero like Alek join the team,” said Aaron Withe, Freedom Foundation’s national director. “Alek saved countless lives when he and his friends took down the terrorist on the French train, and now he’s going to help save countless public sector employees from government union oppression.”

Skarlatos agreed. “I’m incredibly excited to be working with an action-oriented group like the Freedom Foundation,” he said. “I learned about the Freedom Foundation’s important work while on the campaign trail and I’m glad I’ll be helping public employees get out from the grip of their union bosses.”

“We’re actually glad Alek lost his congressional race,” concluded Withe. “Now he can help us continue to expand and help millions more public employees keep more of their own money.”

Skarlatos will serve as the group’s national director for development, as the Freedom Foundation continues its national expansion.
