Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” may not be as ironically named as it would appear at first glance.
No, her hare-brained scheme couldn’t possibly make the planet any healthier and, yes, it would — in the nightmare scenario of its actually being enacted — devastate the economy and ruin millions of lives in short order.
But in the meantime, it would unquestionably line the pockets of AO-C and her enablers in the vast income-redistribution mechanism it would require.
Simply put: The only green it generated would grease the palms of the country’s public-sector unions. Which explains why they’re so unabashedly supportive of its every insane nuance.
At its core, the Green New Deal a naked power grab by those whose hands are on the levers of government — and the unions who skim millions from their paychecks. In true Socialist fashion, Ocasio-Cortez envisions government growing to massive proportions as it seizes control of the private sector.
And as it metastasizes, more and more dues-paying union members are added to the public payroll.
