Thousands of Floridians decertify their government unions

Thousands of public employees in more than 30 government agencies in Florida have exercised their right to decertify from the tyrannical grip of the national government unions and their radical political agenda, as first reported by the Orlando Weekly

“This is neither an unwelcome nor unintended consequence,” said Freedom Foundation CEO Aaron Withe. “Rather, it was our ambitious goal when working with the Florida State Legislature and Gov. Ron DeSantis last summer to pass SB 256, which requires public-sector unions to maintain a paid membership of at least 60 percent of those it presumes to speak for.”

“This is a major victory for workers across Florida, who now have more dollars in their pockets and have the option of better representation.”

“As the Orlando Weekly put it,” concluded Withe, “this is just the first purge of government employee unions – and the Freedom Foundation is going to do everything in our power to make this a reality, helping tens of thousands of public employees exercise their right to freedom from union bosses who don’t even know their names.”
