Freedom Foundation sets mark with 7,400 opt-outs in July

July marked another milestone for the Freedom Foundation, as the organization helped more than 7,400 public employees leave their unions.

The total makes July our best month on record and the fourth time this year we have set a new all-time monthly record for opt outs.

The pace of growth has been remarkable, reflecting both the demand for our services and the effectiveness of our outreach efforts.

California once again led the nation with 3,707 opt-outs in July, including more than 2,000 unionized homecare providers.

Washington was second with 626 opt-outs, followed by Illinois with 444, Nevada with 337, Ohio with 323, New York with 258 and Colorado with 227.

Pennsylvania, Florida, Connecticut, and Minnesota each also recorded more than 100 opt outs during the month.

So far in 2026, the Freedom Foundation has helped 42,000 workers escape Big Labor’s clutches, relieving unions of nearly $40 million they would otherwise have used to fund liberal politicians and progressive causes.

Every opt out represents someone making a personal decision about where their paycheck should go. For an increasing number, that means putting more money toward their families, homes and future instead of funding the radical left.

This year’s success has been driven by a significant expansion of our outreach efforts. We are reaching more workers than ever through direct mail, email, digital campaigns and door-to-door engagement.

Those investments are producing results, allowing us to connect with public employees who may never have realized they had a choice to ditch their government unions.

In July, we also welcomed 43 new ambassadors at our Teacher Freedom Summit. These educators have committed to helping their fellow teachers learn about their rights to opt out of union membership within their own school districts, expanding our reach even further.

And the momentum shows no signs of slowing. With record-breaking opt out numbers, growing grassroots engagement, and an expanding network of ambassadors across the country, 2026 is on track to become the most successful year in the Freedom Foundation’s history.

And the least successful for our union adversaries.

As more public employees learn they have a choice, we expect this movement to continue growing well beyond this year.
