The Freedom Foundation followed up on a summer of astonishing accomplishment by setting an all-time record for opt-outs once the calendar turned to fall.
From Sept. 10 to 16, the organization helped 1,390 public employees nationwide leave their union. During that same hectic week, the Freedom Foundation shattered its own one-day mark with a mind-boggling 445 opt-outs.
The most prolific state for the week was Illinois, which accounted for 500 opt-outs by itself.
At an average rate of $1,000 a year in dues for each employee, the flurry of activity during just one week cost the unions more than $1.3 million a year. Every year. Forever.
The momentum for this groundswell began to build in July, when the Freedom Foundation set a then-record high number of union opt-outs, only to see that record shattered by an even more successful August.
Already, September is on pace to break that record. Over the course of the past three months, we have seen over 13,000 people leave their unions.
This means $13 million (and counting) in annual dues will leave the unions’ coffers and return to the pockets of public employees.
These aren’t merely statistics; they represent the choices of thousands of public employees who have exercised their constitutional right to redirect their hard-earned money away from the government unions’ radical agenda..
As the Freedom Foundation continues on this journey, our goal remains unwavering: to make sure that every public employee in America knows they have the right to opt out of union dues.
