When it comes to making public-employee unions work for their money, no other organization elicits the same response as the Freedom Foundation. And you don’t have to take our word for it — just look at what unions in California have said about us in the past.

Take, for example, SEIU 1000, the largest union of state workers in California. With well over 90,000 members, it’s one of the leading influencers of politicians in Sacramento.

On the union’s public member resource website, the Freedom Foundation has earned a personal link warning public employees we may try to educate them about their constitutional rights.

Let’s not forget the racist attacks they levied against five Freedom Foundation canvassers in Sacramento, either, before being handily defeated and sent packing to their building.

SEIU 721 had a similar response when Freedom Foundation canvassers started making appearances in Riverside County in October of 2018. Clearly, our Santa Claus suit-clad canvassers, handing out candy canes and informational packets, sent shock waves through the local union hierarchy.

Teamsters Local 1932, the same union that attempted to intimidate one of our canvassers in early October, created an “anti-Freedom Foundation” committee within the local union bureaucracy.

When queried by a local reporter, Kathleen Brennan, the local Teamsters president, claimed the committee was simply a homework exercise. Her disingenuous answer clearly ignored that we discovered the committee through a public record request and the email describing the committee and its true purpose was sent from her work computer during normal work hours.

Fearing the wrath of its own members, Teamsters Local 1932 produced and distributed its own set of fliers warning dues-payers to be on the lookout for a friendly face with helpful information.

LIUNA 777, which primarily unionizes county hospital and medical staff, took a similar course of action when Freedom Foundation canvassers started visiting its workplaces.

SEIU 521 took it a step further and devoted an entire web page to the Freedom Foundation, driving home the point that its leaders are trembling in their boots. They even produced a propaganda video featuring one of our OptOutToday.com mail pieces and bullies SEIU 521 members to sign irrevocable union membership cards, a widespread practice currently being litigated by the Freedom Foundation for stripping members of their constitutional rights.

Whether it be SEIU, Teamsters, LIUNA or any other union, there is only one organization on the tip of their tongue.
