2023 will be a lousy year for Ohio government unions

If 2023 is anything like 2022, public employees and teachers will leave their union. In droves.

Everyday people leveraging their constitutional rights are taking a stand against union corruption. They are refusing to pay dues for workplace services the union is legally obligated to provide anyway.

They are embracing individual freedom and liberty, choosing to redirect their hard-earned money into their own piggy banks rather than those of selfish union bosses.

As the political landscape grows ever more toxic, humble public servants are recognizing they have no responsibility to fund with their dues dollars the radical, leftist agenda of their union leaders.

How do we know the fine folks working hard for the people of Ohio, educating our children, will exercise their God-given rights of freedom of speech and freedom of association to revolt against union tyranny?

In 2022, teachers and public employees in Ohio heard from the Freedom Foundation at least 3 million different times, by every conceivable mode of communications. Dedicated employees even showed up at their workplace in the cold of winter.

The result? Brave, bold public employees and teachers opted out of union dues at an unprecedented rate, costing public-sector unions across the state over $2.1 million.

The result? Brave, bold public employees and teachers opted out of union dues at an unprecedented rate, costing public-sector unions across the state over $2.1 million.

And this revenue loss will only get worse for union bosses in 2023. Why?

When the clock struck midnight on Jan. 1, you can bet few union bosses made a New Year’s resolution to treat their members better and more fairly — or make workplace representation a priority.

Even fewer resolved to tighten their own belts like the people who pay them a pretty penny every month have been forced to do thanks to the inflation wrought by a president who owes his office largely to union support.

The ever-shrinking revenue outlook faced by unions can be blamed solely on their own oppressive tactics toward the members — otherwise known as the people that pay them.

Members once unwaveringly loyal have been betrayed, exploited and lied to. How could they not turn on their union?

In the new year, it’s hard not to celebrate the reality that disenfranchised, marginalized, degraded public union members have a choice to be able to make their own 2023 resolution to be done with the toxic union culture in the workplace.

In 2023, union power brokers will lose. Ohio’s teachers and public employees will get the upper hand.

And every day in 2023, the Freedom Foundation in Ohio will be about empowering these people to escape union tyranny.
